Situated right the heart of the city, just down the road from the Minster, there is nowhere better to come for a pint or a lovely meal with your family and friends. Also available, is our free-to-hire 15th century function room; a gorgeous space with a lovely atmosphere for your party or meeting! (Let us know if you see our resident ghost!) If that doesn’t entice you yet, we have a cozy snug, which is a lovely room for smaller groups to eat or drink in. The main dining area of our pub is full of little nooks to enjoy, with fairy lights creating a calm and relaxing space to have dinner and spend time in. Here at the Royal Oak, York, we have a beautiful 15th Century room which can be used for private parties for up to thirty-two people within elegant surroundings with wooden beams and low ceilings which provide the perfect old world atmosphere.
Candlelit dinners are also a treat at the Royal Oak York with table service for that something just a bit different for a special occasion or a weekend away.
We also provide a selection of buffet menus which are perfect for all occasions from birthday parties, work parties or just a good old get together. The room at the Royal Oak provides privacy yet you still feel connected to the energy of the pub and the history that the room comes with.
We have a resident ghost who sits in the corner next to fireplace and cries, some customers do get the hair standing up when they pass the room. There is also a cat which is supposed to roam the room and the stairs looking for his master. Some people again feel a presence brush past them on the ankles and lower leg.
